Description : The Grantez Mountains designate a passage dolmen located in the parish of Saint-Ouen on the Channel Island of Jersey . The dolmen of the Grantez Mountains consists of a covered corridor measuring 7 m in length serving a lateral chamber on the north side and leading to an almost oval main chamber made up of large granite blocks . This corridor is oriented east-west. The building is covered with six granite roof tables resting on 24 orthostats . In the master bedroom, the skeletons of six adults and a child in a lateral crouching position were unearthed. Another skeleton resting in a seated position supported by stones was found in the hallway and the scattered remains of a ninth individual were found in the side chamber. Animal bones correspond to the teeth of deer, horses, cattle, sheep and pigs. The archaeological furniture consists of colored pebbles, shells, ceramic shards, lithic objects (hammer and flint objects, spindle for wool) and a soapstone bead . The megalithic monument has been dated to the Middle Neolithic (between 4000 and 3250 BC ).
